Niagara Falls gets partially frozen for the second time this winter

NiagaraThe Niagara Falls has been partially frozen for the second time in the bitterly cold weather which has taken over much of East Coast for the second time in a row.

The falls looked spectacular as the frozen parts glittered in the pleasant hues of the decorative colorful lights on the American side with the Bridal Veil Falls which flows at a rate of 567,811 Liters per second were frozen due to -1 degrees and lower. Temperatures in the area fell to -23C and chilly winds brought the gushing water to a standstill.

As it was reported yesterday that around 3,000 flights were cancelled and schools and local government buildings too had to be closed down.

It is again due to polar vortex, a rotating pool of cold, dense air held in place by strong winds that eastern United States has succumbed to such erratic weather. The cold weather is continuing to as far as the south in the US as Alabama. The temperature would be about 30 degrees Fahrenheit (15 degrees Celsius) below normal as a cold front settled in from Great Plains to the Atlantic coast. There have been four deaths in Texas, Oklahoma and Tennessee due to heavy storms.
