A surprising artwork has been installed in the Québec City Convention Centre’s new spaces

oeuvreVisitors and delegates using the public corridor connecting the Convention Centre to public areas and the staircase linking the Convention Centre’s main entrance to its new spaces will enjoy Ms. Chantal Séguin’s artwork.

The artwork, named D’un lieu à l’autre (Form one place to the next), is integrated on the ceiling located on top of the stairs. By using horizontal and diagonal lines, the artist creates visual interest with characters made of stainless steel and black paint, stainless steel railings and the stairs in black granite.

With its concept, Ms. Séguin, a Québec-resident, wishes to generate a dialogue on places of transition and meeting while creating a visually exciting space with a contemporary look by revisiting the stairs as a sculptural form.

The integration of artwork in the Convention Centre’s expansion project is part of the Government of Québec’s Integration Program for Art, Architecture and the Environment in Government Buildings and Public Sites.
