The national television channel M6 will broadcast next Monday, April 21, “Top Chef Reunion.” The episode, with shooting that took place in 2011, features celebrity Chef Cyril Lignac, who participated in the discovery of Reunion Island gourmet wine. This project, initiated by Reunion Island Tourism (IRT), is part of its destination meetings promotion.
After the leader in Alsace, Languedoc Roussillon Auvergne, or Reunion Island is the first ultramarine destination to be selected by the production of the show for the filming of a new album. On Monday, April 21, 2014, after the final episode of the hit show “Top Chef,” the national television channel M6 will broadcast at 2350 (metropolitan France time) “Top Chef Reunion.”
Driving his Mehari, Cyril Lignac crisscrosses roads on Reunion Island to meet iconic characters and participate with them in their daily lives – fishermen, farmers, restaurateurs, or simply passionate cooks. With his car and food necessities, the chef also plans to cook at the roadside stops. At the end of his stay, Cyril Lignac tests his knowledge of local cuisine with the completion of a meal so French Reunion.
The program will include the discovery of an open market in Saint-Pierre, a traditional Reunion Island picnic, and the tasting and cooking of litchi and pineapple, with Victoria Dimitile will also feature, accompanied by the Ambassador of Reunion Island, Laurence Roustandjee, in a spectacular ceremony of fire-walking in Sainte-Suzanne. Also not to be missed will be the coverage of preparing smoked meat in the Entre-Deux and big game fishing in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
During the program, Cyril Lignac also takes viewers along to the discover Mafate, the Plaine des Sables, the Piton de la Fournaise, golden sand beaches on the west coast of the island, and local products such as Vanilla Bourbon.
