“After the success of the Disney on Ice event in Doha last year, we received hundreds of querieson social media from Disney fans across the UAE eager to find out if the show wouldsoon be touring in their country. The time has finally come to announce that this magical and captivating ice production will be in the UAE this September.”

MrHaidary added: “Rockin’ Ever After is one of the new additions to the catalogue of Disney On Ice productions and we’re delighted that the Middle East will be the first region to host this show after concluding its American tour. We’re just as excited to announce that the Middle East Tour will begin in Dubai.”

Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), said:

“This globally-renowned family event is an enchanting addition to our city’s ever-impressive events calendar. Along with featuring everyone’s favourite Disney characters, it’s incredible to think that in the heat of the desert we’re hosting a show on ice. Where else in the world can you wrap up warm with the family to watch Mickey and Minnie Mouse before sandboarding in the desert or skydiving over the iconic Palm Jumeirah?

“Simply put, this is yet another world-class event that has chosen Dubai as a host city, and one we are incredibly excited to be a part of. Our commitment to providing Dubai’s residents and tourists with the best entertainment in the world continues as we move ever closer to achieving our vision for 2020 of encouraging 20 million guests to visit the emirate by the turn of the next decade. It’s time to bring the magic of Disney to the most magical place on earth.”

Up to 100 cast and crew members will descend on Dubai in August to prepare for the first Disney On Ice spectacular at DWTC. Transforming the DWTC into a skating arena will be 48,000 litres of water, two 64 ton refrigerators and a whopping 425 manhours.

Once the ice has set, the talent extravaganza begins. The Disney rock stars burst out onto the ice in an explosion of colourto music featured on the Disney Channel. The mesmerisingopening includes a dance-off-sing-off between the boys and girls, led by none other than Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.

One of nine Disney On Ice productions produced by Feld Entertainment, Rockin’ Ever AfterintroducesDisney’s newest princesses to the ice: Merida from Disney-Pixar’s BRAVE and Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled.

“We are taking a fresh spin on how we’re presenting the Disney stories,” said Producer, Juliette Feld. “The popular talent show trend is used as a vehicle to weave together the four worlds of Merida, Ariel, Belle and Rapunzel. We include acts like Cinderella’s stepsisters tap dancing; Gaston debating which of his many ‘talents’ he should perform; Pinocchio singing and the harmless hooligans from Tangled unleashing musical mayhem with giant frying pans in hand.”

Feld Entertainment has once again pushed its cast of world-class skaters to the limit with a Spanish web act during The Little Mermaid segment. The act sees Ariel emerge from Ursula’s cauldron AND transform from a mermaid to human, before danglinga staggering 35-feet over the ice showing off her brand new legs.

Director Patty Vincent travelled to Scotland to research the details of BRAVE and preparefor its Disney On Ice debut. This segment of the show opens with headstrong Merida blazing across the ice as if she were running freely through the highlands of her native country. The choreography changes to a more festive style, heavily influenced by Scottish dancing, for the presentation of the suitors. All three clans – MacIntosh, MacGuffinand Dingwall – arrive prepared to fight for Merida’s hand in marriage after Queen Elinor extends the invitation. Merida’s mischievous trio of brothers provide laughs as they take swings at one another and mock the rest of their Scottish friends.

Costumes are another important factor in recreating the scene and bringing the action to life. Each clan has a unique kilt pattern, called a tartan. These kilts embody Scottish tradition and celebrate Merida’s heritage.

In Beauty and the Beast’s “Be Our Guest”, the theatrical elements of the glitzy napkins and silverware costumes will astound audiences. Costume Designer, Cynthia Nordstrom, brought the castle’s enchanted entourage to life by choosing fabrics that unfold as the performers raise their arms, attaching pieces that extend the costumes outwards.
Disney On Ice presents Rockin’ Ever After wraps up with a light stick show as the Disney rock stars reappear for an exhilarating send off. Merida, Ariel, Belle and Rapunzel are joined back on the ice by their charismatic Disney friends to wish the audience farewell. With so much talent and storytelling jam-packed into one show, Disney On Ice will be sure to leave audiences “rockin’ ever after”.

Dubai will host the first leg of the Disney On Ice presentsRockin Ever After Middle East tour. It will then move on to Doha, Qatar where the show will be held at the Qatar National Convention Centre from September 24 – 27, 2014.

Prices for regular tickets start from Bronze AED 175; Silver AED 275; Gold AED 475; VIP AED1,000 and Royal Rink side AED2,000.
