Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) will welcome tourism marketer Kate Duffy to the role of Destination Content Director on June 30.
Tourism Tropical North Queensland Chief Executive Officer Alex de Waal said Ms Duffy was currently contracted to Tourism and Events Queensland’s Brand and Marketing team while she was on leave from her role as Social Media Manager with the Canadian Tourism Commission.
“Kate has extensive digital marketing experience, strong team leadership skills and is familiar with Tropical North Queensland having led the successful implementation of the region’s This is my Paradise campaign,” he said.
“She also led all aspects of the recent TTNQ Instagram famil which resulted in a 42 per cent increase in followers to the @tropicalnorthqueensland Instagram account.
“As the Canadian Tourism Commission’s Social Media Manager, Kate managed the organisation’s social media department and developed and implemented a global social engagement strategy for the Commission’s 11 international markets.
“Before that she worked with some of the world’s largest advertising agencies including Cossette Communications in Vancouver where she was responsible for the agency’s biggest client, Tourism British Columbia.
“Her skills will be invaluable in the newly created role of Destination Content Director to develop and manage TTNQ’s traditional and digital content strategy and its dedicated resources.
“This role will drive customers to visit our destination and to become prolific and proactive advocates convincing others to follow in their footsteps.”
Ms Duffy said there had been massive change in the way people travel today, largely driven by the adoption of mobile and social media.
“I see exciting potential in enticing visitors to become Tropical North Queensland’s greatest advocates by sharing their holiday experiences through social media,” she said.
