telenganaAt the stroke of midnight, India got its 29th state on Monday, bifurcating Andhra Pradesh.  K Chandrasekhar Rao took oath on Monday morning as the first chief minister of Telangana, India’s 29th state.

After the oath taking ceremony, Rao will attend ‘Telangana Formation Day’ which will take place in Hyderabad. Hyderabad will remain as the joint capital for both the states for the next ten years.

Central rule was imposed on March 1 after N Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned as the CM of Andhra Pradesh.

Though there remained certain uneasiness between the CM-designates of the two states, people celebrated the formation of Telangana with dazzling fireworks and by distributing sweets.

The joy and fervor was clear from the way common people danced on the roads and expressed their happiness after some five-decade long struggle.

The government ensured that the Charminar, Golconda Fort and several public buildings including the Legislative Assembly to remain illuminated through the night. The whole idea was to celebrate this precious moment.
