Nebraska smashed by rare twin tornadoes ; 16 critically injured

tornedo-300x193A deadly duo of massive, relentlessly fast-moving tornadoes rained down terror in northeast Nebraska.

Reports claim that at least one person has been killed and more than 16 people are critically injured after the massive devastating tornadoes swept through northeast Nebraska.

 

More than half of the town of Pilger has been heavily damaged and destroyed and it is a complete mess as the emergency officials reported.

The emergency crews and the rescue workers along with the residents spent the evening sorting through demolished homes and businesses in the town of about 350, roughly 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of Omaha.

 

The tournedos touched down within roughly a mile (1.6 kilometers) of each other as the National Weather Service.

The victims were taken to the three regional hospitals and atleast one of them had died from some unspecidfied injuries as per the hospital officials.

A state of emergency has been declared by the Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman allowing the state resources to help with the recovery effort.

 

As hospital spokeswoman Jodi Richey said, Faith Regional Health Services in nearby Norfolk was treating 16 patients with critical injuries, and one person had died.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service were also tracking a tornado near the town of Burwell, in central Nebraska.
