20140808-2040_m-1Honorary Ambassador of Reunion Island, Amaury Lavernhe, came in third position at the Itacoatiara Pro 2014 Rio de Janeiro, one of the events of the World Bodyboarding Tour.

Amaury Lavernhe went to Rio de Janeiro on July 25 to defend his title as he had won the event the Itacoatiara Pro in June 2013 before Hawaiian Jeff Hubbard.

After a long trip to Australia and Indonesia, Amaury returned to Europe in early July and has been training for nearly two weeks in the Canaries.

In late July, he flew to Latin America where he stayed for 6 weeks, with the aim of participating in three stages of the South American 2014 World Cup Tour.

Amaury Lavernhe did well thanks to a very good technique; he was able to accumulate 18 points in the quarterfinals against Brazil Francirley Ferreira with waves of 8.50 to 9.50 meters, thus achieving the best score and best figures of the competition.

Ready to attend a final Franco-Reunion, viewers saw Amaury Lavherne released by the South African Jared Houston, during a catastrophic series where Amaury was not able to wave “paid.”

Being a good player, Amaury congratulated his opponent and was soon smiling again. “I’m happy with the result anyway.

The racing conditions were very hard, the water really cold in Brazil which is exceptional. It was intense!” he said.

Amaury ended up on the podium in third place, up in the standings at the World Top 5.

He prepares to leave for Chile for two events: Arica 2014 from August 15 to 24, 2014 of the Antofagasta and August 26 to 31.
