Austria’s tallest skyscraper Donau City Tower is quite an attraction for the people in Austria and those visiting this highly picturesque and beautiful destination.
The 60-floor, 820-ft (250-m) building was completed last year overlooking the Danube in one of the city’s main urban business hubs. Officially known as DC Tower 1 and DC Tower 2 is coming up shortly.
The tall tower flashes in the sunbeam radiating the glory and success of modern architecture. Kept spotlessly clean for maintaining the gleaming look of the facade cleaners are engaged periodically to clean its edifice.
The most terrifying situation caused panic on August 3, 2014 as two window cleaners cradled in a platform suddenly slipped leaving the workers clinging for their life.
People were drawn in numbers as they helplessly watched the two men struggled in their precarious positions. The platform inclined to a 45 degrees angle as the men held on almost dangling.
30 firefigthers came to recue these men and eventually after a lot of toil the men were rescued.
The men hung in the position for a long time and one of them suffered deep shock.
Such incidents raise concern with more skyscrapers already existing and many more coming up in the world. Better practices need to be devised for cleaning these windows. This method of cleaning windows is practiced in Manhattan as well.
Dubai has come up with robotic window washers which save the ordeal that window cleaners have to go through leaving windows gleaming and beautiful of the tallest skyscrapers.
