Michael Ring TD, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport has extended his congratulations to Rory McIlroy on winning the US PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club last night (Sunday 10 August 2014).
Minister Ring said: ‘On behalf of the Irish people I am delighted to congratulate Rory on winning his fourth major title and his second US PGA Championship.’
“Weather conditions were difficult yesterday and the World Number One had to show true grit and determination to beat such a world-class field. Rory is in fantastic form and is now, at 25, the third youngest player after Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus to win four majors.”
Minister Ring added: “I am sure your family, your coach and mentor, Michael, your caddie JP, Holywood Golf Club and everyone in Ireland are once again immensely proud of you. Congratulations on such a wonderful achievement and I wish you all the best for the rest of the year and for many years to come.”
