Tourism Authority of Thailand showcases tourism prospects in Mumbai

tou1The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Mumbai Office, together with the Thai Consulate in Mumbai organized a B2B showcase of Chiang Mai’s products, attractions, hotels and resorts.

 

Hosted by the Thai Consulate, Chiang Mai Night took place on August 1, 2014 at the Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai.

The event connected attendees with 20 suppliers, consisting of hotels, travel agents and tourist attractions, from Chiang Mai, a beautiful, historically-steeped city, also known as Thailand’s Rose of the North.

TAT Mumbai transported a wholesome experience of Chiang Mai to Mumbai, from umbrella painting to cultural performances, wellness and fruit carving stations. Chiang Mai is a cultural stronghold in Thailand.

 

Its distinct dance forms, reflective of its indigenous culture, were also be showcased at Chiang Mai night. Additionally, Chiang Mai’s selection of culinary delights were be served up by Four Seasons’ Thai Master Chef Seefah Ketchaiyo, who has spent a few years living in Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai is a short (1 hr 15 min) flight away from Bangkok, at a distance of 696 kms. Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Nok Air, Air Asia and Orient Thai Airways offer frequent daily connections.

 

The city is also accessible by rail via a daily service that plies from Bangkok Railway Station to Chiang Mai 6 times a day.

 

One may also opt for a road journey, which takes about 8 hours. For those who would rather not drive, air-conditioned buses are available from the Bangkok Bus Terminal on Kamphaeng Phet II Road.

Chiang Mai’s selection of spas, activities and attractions are likely to appeal to wellness and luxury seekers, culture enthusiasts, handicraft fans, nature and adventure lovers, voluntourists and seniors.

Besides a host of breathtakingly intricate temples including Doi Suthep which overlooks the whole city, Chiang Mai’s attractions include the Chiang Mai Zoo, zip line adventures through the rainforest, the Chiang Mai Aquarium and Chiang Mai Night Safari.

 

The Rose of the North also offers exciting shopping options from world-class malls to bargain hunting at the Night Market and Sunday Market.

Chiang Mai boasts a distinct selection of Thai cuisine and has a buzzing street food scene. Accommodation options include international branded hotels, villas, dedicated wellness hotels and boutique hotels.
