Organised by Shree Vidyaranya Yuvaka Sangha, the 52nd Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava celebrated day 2 on August 30, 2014 at APS College grounds, Basavanagudi.
Danseuse Kum. Swathi Krishnakumar’s gracious moves brought her magnificent performance to the stage in a whirl of dazzling beauty. Gorgeous costumes and music added to this spectacular live event.
Kum. Swathi’s training in Bharathanatyam started under Guru Smt. Narmada, a disciple of Guru Kittappa Pillai of Thanjavur. Currently she is under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Poornima K Gururaja, Kalasindhu since the last seven years.
The enthralling experience was followed by a harmonious musical evening. The Kannada Chalanachitra Sangeethagaarara Sangha (KCSS) orchestra began with a tribute to Lord Ganesha by Vishnu Raman singing the song ‘Jai Ganesha.’ A never before musical evening was in store for the audience with tributes to master composers of yesteryears like T G Lingappa, Vijayabhaskar, G K Venkatesh, Rajan Nagendra, Satyam, Ghantasala, Upendra Kumar, M Ranga Rao to name a few. The Sangha played ‘Baanalli Ninninda’ from the film ‘Neenu Nakkare, Haalu Sakkare,’ ‘Yeri mele’ from ‘Jaga Mechida maga,’ ‘Yaare neenu Roja’ from ‘Nanu nan hendthi’ and many such classic movies.
In an attempt to showcase our cultural history, the Sangha has created a magnificent 80 x 60 feet stunning representation of the Belur-Halebid temple. The temple highlights the organizer’s zest for creating a unique experience every year. With its augustness and majestic dignity, this 12th century marvel stunned the onlookers with medieval splendour. Visitors were enthralled at the opportunity to witness the magnificence of Southern architecture and commented that it gave them the feel of visiting an actual temple. Arti was also conducted during the course of the evening.
Aromas of Karnataka – The Food Utsava
The big crowd at APS College Grounds also got the opportunity to taste the most authentic Kannadiga oota from every district of Karnataka as part of Aromas of Karnataka – The Food Utsava. The six stalls representing the six districts of Karnataka had almost 100 dishes that came at an absolutely affordable price range of Rs 10 to Rs 30.
