Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) has completed preparations on the issuance of official permits for the visiting yachts of Dubai International Boat Show 2015. Drawing international and regional participation, the leading marine event in the Middle East will be held from March 3 to 7, 2015 at the Dubai International Marine Club, Mina Seyahi. DMCA has allocated an office to provide maritime licensing services directly at the show site.
This initiative complements DMCA’s efforts to integrate maritime safety, navigation and operational efficiency along the local coastline. Such an extensive licensing service is the first of its kind in Dubai and is administered to tourist, sport, recreational and traditional boats that have met all the technical specifications, maritime safety regulations and local environment requirements.”
Amer Ali, Executive Director of DMCA, emphasized that the decision to issue official permits was an important addition to the successful organizational efforts undertaken in last year’s show. Ali also pointed out that DMCA is keen to meet the requirements of the participants for this current edition, as the luxury marine navigation sector is witnessing a remarkable expansion.
Ali added: “Providing this service is part of our contribution to the 23rd Dubai International Boat Show in coordination with the organizers. We hope that our cooperation will allow the show to further improve on its reputation as the fastest growing marine leisure event in the world. Through this, we look forward to making a positive impact in cementing UAE’s presence as a major player on the global maritime map”.
Ali Al Dabbous, Executive Director of Operations, DMCA, said: “We are delighted to be part of Dubai International Boat Show success, which is one of the most significant and specialized events for boats and luxury yachts in the world. As we believe in the importance of facilitating the licensing services, we are working closely with all stakeholders in Dubai to help owners of visiting marine crafts obtain permits quickly and easily at the exhibition site. The validity of the permits issued by DMCA is for three months. Permit holders have the right to sail and anchor within the territorial waters of the emirate of Dubai, and can renew after expiration.”
The idea of ‘Maritime Innovation’ drove DMCA’s participation as it aims to showcase marine craft licensing portfolio and new smart applications that has been developed based on ideas aimed at achieving a highly-renewable and sustainable maritime sector. The pavilion of DMCA at the exhibition will cater to all who wish to get a marine craft driving license, which has become mandatory in Dubai as of the beginning of 2015.
